Dr. Margaret K. Meadows serves as Associate Professor of Chemistry within Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, teaching Organic Chemistry I/II and Chemistry Capstone since joining the faculty in 2018.
Her academic credentials include:
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Sir Fraser Stoddart Mechanostereochemistry Laboratory, Northwestern University
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, University of Texas at Austin
- B.S. in Chemistry, Furman University
Research focuses on dual domains: chemical education (student wellness interventions and organic chemistry pedagogy) and environmental chemistry (molecular sensors for endocrine disruptors like phthalates). Her lab integrates organic synthesis with spectroscopic analysis for water pollutant detection while investigating stress management frameworks for STEM learners.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent contributions to Journal of Chemical Education and analytical chemistry journals, highlighting expertise in educational innovation and supramolecular sensor design across environmental and biomedical contexts.
Undergraduate researchers in her Godsey Science Center laboratory gain hands-on experience in organic synthesis and spectroscopic analysis through projects spanning pollutant detection and pedagogical studies.
