Margaret Flores serves as Professor and Department Head in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling at Auburn University's College of Education, where she also directs the Special Education Program and coordinates the Doctoral Program.
Her educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University, M.Ed. with teaching certification from Georgia State University, and Ph.D. from Georgia State University. Prior to joining Auburn in 2008, she taught special education in Atlanta resource/self-contained classrooms and served on faculty at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Research focuses on developing academic and behavioral interventions for students with disabilities and struggling learners, directly informing her teaching of special education methodology courses. Her practical classroom experience shapes evidence-based approaches to inclusive education.
In administrative roles, she oversees curriculum development for special education programs and mentors doctoral candidates in disability research while maintaining active engagement with K-12 special education practitioners through her office in Haley Center (1226).
