Margaret E. Boyle is an Associate Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at Bowdoin College and Director of the Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies Program. She specializes in early modern Spain and colonial Latin America, focusing on Hispanic women’s literary history, comedia performance, and health humanities. Her research bridges historical analysis with public engagement through programs like Multilingual Mainers, which promotes multilingual education to combat xenophobia.
Her academic contributions include the award-winning book *Unruly Women: Performance, Penitence and Punishment in Early Modern Spain* (2014) and co-edited volumes like *Health and Healing in the Early Modern Iberian World* (2021). Her latest work, *Sabor Judío: The Jewish Mexican Cookbook* (2024), explores culinary heritage and received a National Jewish Book Award nomination.
