Margaret Carroll serves as Professor of Practice in Education and Coordinator of Field Experience at Stonehill College, having joined the institution in 2025. In this role, she supports teacher candidates through coursework, practicum seminars, and field placements while partnering with schools, faculty, and community stakeholders to ensure meaningful learning experiences for future educators.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Educational Studies in Special Education from Boston University, along with an M.Ed. in Special Education, B.S. in Social Studies Education, and B.A. in History from the same institution. She also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Social and Emotional Learning from William James College.
Dr. Carroll's research examines how educator preparation programs can better equip teachers for classroom demands, with particular focus on factors influencing teacher well-being, professional resilience, and long-term retention in the profession. Her expertise spans inclusive education, assessment methodologies, and preparing teachers to meet diverse learner needs.
Prior to Stonehill, she served as a K-12 educator, academic support coordinator, adjunct professor, and student teaching supervisor across various educational settings. Her professional experience includes developing evidence-based instructional supports and facilitating professional development for educators.
At Stonehill College, she teaches Assessment and Analysis in Education and Practicum: Reflective Seminar courses, emphasizing the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical classroom application for teacher candidates.
