Marek Jóźwicki

Marek Jóźwicki is a Professor and academic leader at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland. Since 1985, he has been affiliated with the Faculty of Architecture and Design, serving as Dean (2008–2012) and currently leading the Department of Design and the Serial Furniture Design Studio. His career spans over 35 years, combining academic roles with industry collaborations in furniture design.

His research focuses on context-driven design, emphasizing environmental respect, abstract thinking, and functional harmony between spaces and objects. Projects include architectural interiors, furniture, and industrial design, with over 600 authored/co-authored designs. He has collaborated with furniture factories like FAMOS, contributing to proprietary patents at Poland’s Patent Office.

Supervised over 60 theses and four doctoral candidates, while reviewing 14 doctoral/habilitation dissertations. Active in professional organizations: founding member of CTT Gdańsk (since 1997) and board member of SPFP (since 2014).
