Mareike Every-Giroux holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Smith College School for Social Work, alongside serving as Director of Substance Use Programs at River Valley Counseling Center and Co-Chair of the College's Council on Diversity, Equity, Belonging & Engagement. Her clinical career spans roles as a clinician, supervisor, director, and administrator in both nonprofit and for-profit settings.
She earned her Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from Smith College School for Social Work in 2009. Her research and teaching focus on social justice education, particularly in dismantling oppressive systems within clinical spaces, and she has taught courses on Practice and Child Development, Race and Racism, and mindfulness integration in healthcare.
Her professional expertise includes substance use treatment, perinatal emotional health, and equity-driven clinical practices. For over a decade, she has supported social work students in practicum placements, emphasizing anti-oppressive frameworks. Her personal lens as a white, queer, middle-class, cisgender female, partner, and parent informs her commitment to creating liberatory spaces in healthcare.
