Maree McGregor is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Earth Sciences at the University of New Brunswick. Her research focuses on hypervelocity impact events and their effects on Earth and the inner Solar System. She employs geologic, petrologic, and analytical techniques to study extreme pressure/temperature impacts on materials, with emphasis on chronological methods for dating impact events.
Education: PhD in Earth Sciences. Current affiliations include the MANTIS Lab and Planetary and Space Science Centre. Research interests include solar system formation history, impact cratering's role in Earth's geological/biological evolution, and geochronological analysis of impact materials.
Publications emphasize U-Pb dating methodologies applied to impact structures in Canada, microstructural analysis of impact minerals, and development of beta decay chronometry. Collaborations span national/international researchers in planetary science and geochemistry.
Recent work includes provenance studies of impact ejecta, lunar material analysis, and LA-ICP-MS method development for impact melt dating. Her research bridges geology and astrogeology, contributing to understanding planetary evolution through impact processes.
