Dr. Marcus Werner serves as a Researcher at the Professorship for Social Geography within the Institute of Geography and Geology at the University of Würzburg, where he has been employed since October 2007. His academic home is located at Campus Hubland South in the Geography Building, Room 130, Würzburg.
Dr. Werner earned his Dr. rer. nat. from the University of Mainz in 2004, following a Diplom-Geographie (2002) and Diplom-Biologie (1995), both also from Mainz. His professional trajectory includes positions as a Lecturer at the University of Frankfurt (2004-2007) and Research Associate at the University of Mainz (2002-2004) prior to his current appointment.
His research portfolio spans multiple interdisciplinary projects including Wellbeing in Würzburg, the Main Valley Project (ecosystem-based solutions for hazard scenarios in the Franconian Main Valley), the Soundscape project, and ZukiBa (focusing on pediatric healthcare access in Bavaria). These initiatives reflect his expertise in urban social geography, environmental risk assessment, and spatial accessibility analysis.
Dr. Werner maintains regular consultation hours on Tuesdays from 10-12 o'clock and provides academic advising for geography students regarding study organization, degree planning, and ECTS credit systems. He actively supervises doctoral dissertations and master's theses within the Social Geography program, contributing to the next generation of geographical scholars at the University of Würzburg.
