معرفی
Dr. Marcus Pearce is a Professor of Cognitive Science at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), leading the Computational Auditory Perception Lab. He holds an honorary position at Aarhus University, Denmark. His research focuses on music perception, cognitive neuroscience, and computational modeling of auditory processes. He teaches modules on music perception and cognition at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research Interests: His work spans cognitive and neural processing of music, including auditory perception, predictive coding, and the role of enculturation in shaping musical expectations. He develops computational models like IDyOM to simulate human musical understanding and collaborates on neuroimaging studies to explore brain mechanisms underlying aesthetic experiences.
Grants: He leads projects such as the EPSRC-funded 'IMPROV' grant (2022–2024), investigating musical creativity and prediction. His research also involves interdisciplinary collaborations on topics like music-evoked emotions, rhythm entrainment, and cross-cultural music perception.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Computational Auditory Perception Lab at QMUL and contributes to the Centre for Human-Centred Computing. His lab employs machine learning and neuroimaging to study music cognition, with applications in music information retrieval and artificial intelligence.
