Marcus Odom is Professor and Deloitte and Touche Faculty Fellow at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's School of Accountancy within the College of Business. He serves as Interim Director and teaches undergraduate/graduate courses in accounting information systems, auditing, internal auditing, fraud auditing, cost accounting, and managerial accounting. With prior teaching experience at The University of Southwestern Louisiana, Oklahoma State University, and Central Texas College, Dr. Odom brings extensive academic expertise.
His research focuses on internal auditing and fraud auditing, particularly examining technology's impact on accounting systems. His work explores behavioral implications of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, expert systems, image processing, electronic data interchange, group decision support software, and internet applications in accounting contexts.
Recent publications analyze cyber-slacking behavior, web assurance seals, and expert systems' cognitive effects. Dr. Odom has received multiple KPMG Outstanding Professor in Accounting Awards and was selected for Deloitte and Touche Faculty Fellowships. He has also contributed to AAA's Trueblood Seminars planning committee.
