Marcus Korb

Dr. Marcus Korb is a Research Fellow in the School of Molecular Sciences at The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on the activation of small molecules and functional groups using iron half-sandwich complexes, with projects exploring mixed valency, charge transfer, and antimicrobial agents. He holds a PhD from Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany) and a postdoctoral position at the MERGE center of excellence before joining UWA via the prestigious Forrest Research Fellowship in 2019.

Research Interests: Dr. Korb’s work spans organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and materials science. Key areas include ferrocene-based ligands, iron-mediated cross-coupling reactions, and the design of functional materials for biomedical and industrial applications. His studies often integrate experimental techniques with computational modeling to understand molecular mechanisms.
