Dr. Marco Ladd is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow in Music at King's College London, researching musical culture in early twentieth-century Italy.
Current projects investigate musical accompaniment in Italian silent cinema and the emergence of 'light music' in 1920s Italy. Research connects screen music traditions, fascist cultural policies, and popular music development.
Publications analyze synchronization practices in silent film and explore intersections between cinema, opera, and operetta. Co-edits a forthcoming special issue on Italian operetta for Cambridge Opera Journal.
