Marcin Wlodarczak is a Senior Lecturer in Phonetics at the Department of Linguistics, Stockholm University. He joined Stockholm University in 2014 after completing his PhD in linguistics with specialization in phonetics from Bielefeld University.
Dr. Wlodarczak holds a PhD in linguistics with specialization in phonetics from Bielefeld University (2014) and became a Docent in Phonetics in 2018. His academic journey reflects a strong foundation in linguistic research with a specific focus on phonetic phenomena.
Dr. Wlodarczak's research primarily focuses on the physiological aspects of speech production and their communicative functions in spontaneous conversation. His current research portfolio includes investigating the communicative and prosodic functions of speech breathing through the Swedish Research Council project "Breathing in conversation," and examining phonation characteristics through the "Prosodic functions of voice quality dynamics" project. He has also conducted significant work on gaze behavior in conversation, exploring how eye contact functions as a communicative signal during dialogue.
His research demonstrates consistent funding support from the Swedish Research Council, indicating recognition of his scholarly contributions within the Swedish academic community.
Dr. Wlodarczak teaches several specialized courses including "Data collection in speech and voice research," "Analysis and processing of speech and voice," and "Statistics for linguists" at the MA level. He has also contributed to academic instruction at Uppsala University, Karolinska Institutet, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, demonstrating his expertise across multiple Swedish academic institutions.
