معرفی
Marcin Szczot is an Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He leads the Szczot Lab within the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN). His research focuses on neurobiological mechanisms underlying sensory perception, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract and peripheral nervous system.
Education:
- PhD in Biophysics, Wroclaw Medical University, Poland
- Electronic Engineering background with additional biology training
Research Interests: Szczot investigates how sensory neurons encode internal and external stimuli, with emphasis on gastrointestinal pain pathways and PIEZO2 channel function. His lab combines genetic mouse models, in vivo calcium imaging, and electrophysiology to study neuronal networks involved in chronic pain conditions like IBS and IBD.
Awards & Grants:
- Wallenberg Academy Fellow (2019-2024)
- Swedish Research Council grants (2020)
Labs & Collaborations: Directs the Szczot Lab at CSAN, collaborating with clinical groups at LiU to bridge basic neuroscience and translational medicine. Research emphasizes cross-disciplinary approaches integrating engineering and biology.
