Marcin Orawiec

Marcin Orawiec is a Professor of Constructive Design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, where he has been teaching since 1994. His academic career spans over three decades with significant contributions to architectural education and sustainable building practices.

Professor Orawiec's research focuses on sustainable building methodologies with expertise in:

• Building construction and structural design
• Circular construction principles
• Urban mining and material reuse
• Wind energy infrastructure repurposing

He established the degree program 'Construction - Urban Mining and Circular Construction' in 2019 and leads the interdisciplinary project 'New Life for Rotor Blades' since 2021, collaborating with Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Technology, and Civil Engineering departments with support from the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES.

His teaching includes Principles of Structural Structures, Construction and Facade, and Building Construction courses at both bachelor's and master's levels. Professor Orawiec maintains an active architectural practice through OX2architekten, which he founded in 1996, with notable projects including the Helicopter landing pad at Aachen University Hospital (2011) and the Liechtenstein Library (2022).
