معرفی
Marcin Naranowicz is an Assistant Professor (Adiunkt) at the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland. His academic work bridges psycholinguistics, cognitive neuroscience, and bilingualism, with a focus on the interplay between mood, emotion, and language processing.
- Education: PhD in Linguistics (2023), MA in English Studies: Applied Cognitive Linguistics (2017), BA in Russian and English Studies: Linguistics (2015), all from Adam Mickiewicz University.
- Current Roles: Laboratory Manager, Psychophysiology of Language and Affect Laboratory; Tutor of the Year, Faculty of English; Governing Board Member, Cognitive Neuroscience Center; AMU Coordinator of SONA Systems.
His research interests include:
Mood effects on language comprehension, predictive and bilingual language processing, emotional language processing, neural mechanisms of language, gender stereotype processing, metaphor comprehension, and mood-related creativity. He employs EEG, ERP, and psychophysiological methods in controlled experimental settings.
The publication trends in his recent articles show a consistent focus on using electrophysiological and behavioral methods to explore how mood states modulate semantic and creative language processing in bilinguals, particularly Polish-English speakers. His work frequently examines ERP components such as N400 and LPC, and integrates affective psychophysiology (e.g., electrodermal activity) to understand the embodied nature of linguistic cognition.
Scientific Awards and Scholarships:
- Adam Mickiewicz University Vice-Chancellor's scholarship (multiple years)
- Santander Universidades scholarship (2021/2022)
- Jan Kulczyk scholarship (2021/2022)
- Scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science (2023–2025)
Research Funding and Advising:
Marcin has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on multiple projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) and the Excellence Initiative – Research University. Notable projects include studies on mood and semantic processes, bilingualism and creativity, and neural correlates of stereotype processing. While no formal students are listed, he has supervised research as a Principal Investigator and contributed to academic training through workshops and teaching.
Labs and Teams:
He manages the Psychophysiology of Language and Affect Laboratory at the Faculty of English and is a member of the Cognitive Neuroscience Center at Adam Mickiewicz University. He collaborates internationally, including with researchers at Bangor University (UK), and participates in professional organizations such as the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS), Society for Neurobiology of Language (SNL), and APA.
