Dr. Marcin Lukowiak is a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He holds dual B.S. and M.S. degrees in Control and Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Poznan University of Technology (Poland).
His research focuses on reconfigurable computing, cryptographic engineering, FPGA architectures, and high-performance computing. Notable projects include FPGA-based cryptographic systems, security-oriented computing curricula, and hardware implementations of algorithms like Skein hashing and Keccak tree hashing.
Dr. Lukowiak has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including works on secure medical device communication, customizable encryption algorithms, and high-level synthesis (HLS) optimizations. His contributions span conferences such as MILCOM, ReConFig, and IEEE symposia.
He teaches courses in digital system design, reconfigurable computing, and cybersecurity, emphasizing hands-on FPGA and VHDL laboratory experiences. His work bridges hardware and software domains, with applications in defense systems, telemedicine, and cloud computing.
