Marcia L. Stefanick, Ph.D., is a Research Professor of Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine, with courtesy appointments in Epidemiology and Population Health. Her work focuses on chronic disease prevention in women and men, including cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, osteoporosis, and dementia. She leads the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Extension Study and WHI Strong and Healthy (WHISH) Trial, and co-leads the Population Sciences Program at the NCI-funded Stanford Cancer Institute.

Research Interests span sex and gender differences in physiology and disease, physical activity interventions, menopause-related health, and epidemiological studies of aging and chronic conditions. Her recent publications highlight associations between physical function, blood pressure, dietary patterns, and cardiovascular/metabolic outcomes in postmenopausal populations.
