Arbex has collaborated with institutions like Assumption University to analyze socio-economic factors influencing career choices, such as men entering priesthood. His work often bridges theoretical frameworks with policy-relevant analysis, including the economic costs of drownings in the Great Lakes region and Brazil’s Bolsa Família program.
He has advised students such as Derek Lanoue (thesis on hockey salaries) and Jared Seagris (summer research). Arbex received the Faculty Performance Award from the University of Windsor, recognizing his contributions to teaching and research. His research spans tax enforcement mechanisms, climate change welfare costs, and the macroeconomic effects of pandemics.
Arbex’s work emphasizes empirical rigor and policy implications, addressing topics such as circular economy costs, optimal taxation of informal firms, and the role of testosterone in tax compliance behavior. His interdisciplinary approach integrates economics with public health, environmental science, and network theory.
