معرفی
Marcelo A. Kuroda is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Auburn University, affiliated with the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM). He holds the Thomas and Jean Walter Associate Professorship. His research focuses on condensed matter physics, electronic/thermal transport phenomena, and device physics involving 2D materials and nanoscale systems.
Education: Ph.D., University of Illinois (2009); Licenciado in Physics, Universidad de Buenos Aires (2002). Professional experience includes postdoctoral roles at IBM Research (2009–2013) and faculty positions at Auburn since 2014. He teaches courses like Solid State Physics and Classical Mechanics.
Research Interests: Kuroda's work spans quantum transport in graphene, spintronics, nanoelectronics, and energy-efficient devices. He investigates novel 2D material heterostructures, piezoelectronic transistors, and CO₂ capture using graphene-based systems.
Publications: Over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including high-impact studies on graphene nanopores for CO₂ filtration (ACS Nano 2022), spintronic junctions (Physical Review B 2020), and biosensors for SARS-CoV-2 (ACS Nano 2021). Themes emphasize nanoscale material interfaces and device applications.
Awards: NSF CAREER Award (2019), Most Outstanding Professor (2015), and awards from the University of Illinois (John Bardeen, 2009).
Students: Advised over a dozen graduate and undergraduate students, including alumni now in academia, industry, and finance. Current advisees include Dakotah M. Kirk and Christopher M. Coger.
