Marcel Rupf is a Lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) School of Engineering, specializing in the Institute of Signal Processing and Wireless Communications. He has held leadership roles including Head of the Institute (ISC) and Head of the Center for Signal Processing and Communications Engineering (ZSN) since 2017.
- Education: ETH Zürich (Master in Electrical Engineering 1981-1987, PhD in Signal and Information Processing 1987-1993)
His research focuses on applied digital signal processing and wireless communication systems, spanning industrial applications like Bluetooth-enabled distance measurement devices, mobile laser scanning for railway infrastructure, and wireless data acquisition systems with cloud integration. Earlier work addressed CDMA-based cellular systems, radar sensors, and binary sequence optimization.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in wireless sensor networks, embedded systems, and smart connectivity solutions across engineering disciplines. He has contributed to projects such as WLAN Fingerprinting and developed technologies for real-time data capture and transmission.
