Dr. Marcel Lewandowsky is a Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Siegen's Faculty of Arts. His academic trajectory includes positions as Acting W2 Professor at the University of Greifswald, DAAD Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida, and research roles at several German universities. He completed his Habilitation in Political Science at Helmut Schmidt University in 2022 and his doctoral studies at the University of Bonn in 2012.
His research examines three interconnected domains: populism and extremism in comparative perspective, stability and transformation of democratic systems, and strategic capabilities of party organizations. These interests reflect a focused investigation into contemporary challenges to democratic governance.
Lewandowsky's scholarly publications demonstrate consistent focus on European party politics, voter behavior, and democratic processes. His recent works analyze populist radical right parties, voter loyalty mechanisms, and institutional responses to political corruption. Methodologically, he employs both quantitative analysis of electoral data and qualitative examination of parliamentary discourse.
As a lecturer during the 2023/24 winter semester, Lewandowsky contributes to the department's teaching mission. His professional service includes participation in academic networks focused on political governance and transformation.
