معرفی
Marcel Lauterbach is a Professor of Molecular Imaging at Saarland University's Medical Faculty in Homburg. He previously served as a Juniorprofessor at the same institution within the Centrum für Integrative Physiologie und Molekulare Medizin (CIPMM). Lauterbach studied Physics at Heidelberg University and the University of Arizona, earning his PhD in 2009 from Göttingen University for work on Fast STED Microscopy.
His research focuses on high-resolution microscopy and its interdisciplinary applications in neuroscience and medicine. He develops innovative optical techniques and data analysis routines to study the interplay between neurons and glial cells, aiming to unlock new therapeutic approaches. His work has achieved unprecedented precision in imaging dendritic spines on brain nerve cells.
Recognized for his teaching excellence, Lauterbach received the Transform4Europe Innovative Teaching Award in 2022 for virtual seminars on "Matlab and Data Analysis." He collaborates with over 15 research groups across Saarland University's campuses in Homburg and Saarbrücken, bridging physics, neuroscience, and medical disciplines.
