Marc Weber

Prof. Marc Weber is a Professor at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), leading the Institute for Process Data Processing and Electronics (IPE) within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT). His research focuses on cybersecurity, distributed systems, and blockchain technology, with an emphasis on fault-tolerant computing, formal verification, and secure consensus protocols. He has contributed to advancements in Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), decentralized systems, and applications of distributed ledgers in mobility and finance.

His work spans theoretical and applied domains, including optimizing fault models for resilient systems, developing secure smart contract frameworks, and exploring trustless payment systems like Lightning Network. Recent publications highlight innovations in asynchronous Byzantine atomic broadcast and performance evaluation tools for state machine replication.

Prof. Weber’s research also intersects computing education and human decision-making, investigating how technical education influences informed technology adoption. His articles often bridge foundational computer science principles with real-world applications in decentralized systems and transportation networks.
