معرفی
Prof. Dr. Marc Stadler is Head of Research Group at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and teaches biology and biotechnology at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He holds a Visiting Professor position at the CAS Institute of Microbiology in Beijing. His industrial experience includes 17 years at Bayer Healthcare and co-founding InterMed Discovery GmbH.
Education:
PhD in Biology from University of Kaiserslautern (1993), supported by the German National Scholarship Foundation. Post-doctoral research in natural product chemistry at University of Lund, Sweden. Completed habilitation in Mycology at University of Bayreuth (2009).
Research Focus:
Stadler's work spans industrial microbiology, fungal biodiversity, and natural product discovery, with emphasis on antibiotics and bioactive metabolites from fungi. He specializes in fungal taxonomy, secondary metabolite profiling, and biotechnological applications of microbial resources.
Publication Trends:
Recent articles focus on novel fungal metabolites (azaphilones, cytochalasins, terphenyls) with antimicrobial, cytotoxic, and agrobiological activities. Research themes include metabolomics of host-pathogen interactions, taxonomic revisions of Hypoxylaceae/Cordycipitaceae, and development of fungal-derived therapeutics.
Awards & Honors:
- German National Scholarship Foundation Grant (PhD support)
- President-Elect of International Mycological Association
- Editorial Board Member: Studies in Mycology, Fungal Diversity
Leadership: Heads a research group at HZI focusing on chemical ecology of fungi. Collaborates globally on fungal taxonomy projects and maintains extensive microbial culture collections. Current projects investigate endophytic fungi for agricultural and pharmaceutical applications.
