Dr. Marc Santos is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Northern Colorado, specializing in rhetoric, writing, technology, and game studies. His research examines how digital technologies reshape rhetorical obligations and pedagogical approaches, advocating for ethical orientations responsive to technological change.
Education includes:
- PhD from Purdue University
- MA from Boston University
- BA from Clark University
His scholarship investigates the intersection of rhetorical theory, digital technologies, ethics, and pedagogy. Santos argues that contemporary technologies require rethinking rhetorical ethics and pedagogical methods, proposing 'postpedagogy' approaches prioritizing spontaneous learning over pre-programmed instruction. Recent work explores game design as rhetorical practice and digital publishing's role in connecting scholarship to civic engagement.
Publications demonstrate consistent engagement with digital rhetoric's ethical dimensions and pedagogical implications. The 2011-2023 work shows evolution from digital narrative studies toward game design analysis and antiracist pedagogical frameworks.
Dr. Santos teaches courses in rhetoric, writing technologies, and digital composition. His research has been published in journals such as Computers and Composition, Kairos, and Philosophy and Rhetoric.
