He leads the Brain in Motion II Study, a randomized controlled trial involving 264 participants. In Integrative Human Physiology, his lab investigates cerebral blood flow regulation using advanced techniques like transcranial Doppler ultrasound and NIRS. His work on Sleep Physiology explores how obstructive sleep apnea impairs cerebrovascular function, linking it to hypertension and stroke. He also studies High Altitude Physiology through collaborations with the ALMA Observatory in Chile and industrial partners like Polar Electro Oy.
Marc Poulin has held significant grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He co-directs the NSERC BRAIN CREATE Interdisciplinary Training Program (2019-2026), prioritizing Indigenous trainees. His lab infrastructure includes dynamic end-tidal forcing systems and neuroimaging tools. He has mentored over 200 trainees, with 63% identifying as women, and his former students hold faculty positions internationally.
