Dr. Marc Olivier is a Departmental Lecturer in French Linguistics at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics. He holds a MSc in Formal Linguistics and a PhD in Historical Syntax. His research focuses on formal syntax, historical syntax, and language change in Romance languages, particularly Old French, Old Occitan, and modern Romance varieties. Key topics include clitic placement, auxiliary selection, clause size, and restructuring, approached through the Minimalist framework.
