Dr. Marc McRae is a Professor in the Department of Basic Sciences at the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS), where he has served since 2002. He teaches biochemistry, cell and molecular physiology, and nutritional biochemistry in the College of Professional Studies. His academic credentials include a Doctor of Chiropractic (2001) and a Master of Science (2002), alongside diplomates from the American College of Nutrition (2003) and Fellow status (2006).
Dr. McRae’s research focuses on dietary supplements, nutritional biochemistry, and cardiometabolic health. He has published 38 peer-reviewed papers and 36 abstracts, with over 1,800 citations. Notable work includes studies on coenzyme Q10, fiber supplementation, and vitamin C’s effects on cholesterol. His 2009 paper on teaching biochemistry via clinical case studies won the ACC-RAC Best Paper Award.
His educational background includes a BSc/BA from the University of Waterloo (1991/1997), DC from NUHS (2001), and MSc from the University of Bridgeport (2002). He is a licensed dietician/nutritionist and active member of the American Society for Nutrition.
