Marc Jones is a Researcher at the Institute of English Language and Literature within the Faculty of Cultural Studies at Technical University of Dortmund. His scholarly work bridges theoretical linguistics and practical language education with a focus on innovative research methodologies and inclusive teaching practices.
His educational background includes a BA Hons in Film & Media Studies from the University of Sunderland, complemented by an MA in TESOL & Applied Linguistics (Merit) and an MRes in Humanities and Social Sciences (Merit) from the University of Portsmouth. This interdisciplinary foundation supports his current research trajectory.
Dr. Jones specializes in L2+ English phonology acquisition and listening comprehension, with particular attention to neurodiverse learners, especially those with ADHD. His methodological innovations include Bayesian statistical analysis and duoethnography to investigate complex language teaching phenomena. His research challenges conventional assumptions about language acquisition and promotes more inclusive educational environments that recognize neurodiversity as a strength.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals three interconnected research strands: methodological development (particularly duoethnography), cognitive aspects of language acquisition (phoneme recognition and listening processes), and neurodiversity applications in language teaching. His work consistently emphasizes practical implications for educators while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
As an active conference presenter, Jones regularly shares his findings at major international venues including the JALT National Conference, J-SLA International Conference, and JALT PanSIG Conference. His presentations cover diverse topics from multiliteracies and listening pedagogy to the professional strengths of teachers with ADHD, demonstrating his commitment to translating research into classroom practice.
