Marc G. Chevrette is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Cell Sciences at the University of Florida, affiliated with the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). His research focuses on microbial secondary metabolism, microbiome interactions, and eco-evolutionary dynamics. He holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MSc from Harvard University, and a BSc from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Research interests include genome mining of biosynthetic gene clusters, microbial metabolite-driven interactions, and integrating genomic/transcriptomic data to understand microbiome networks. The Chevrette Lab investigates these topics in host-associated microbiomes and experimental systems, aiming to discover new antibiotics and bioactive compounds.
Lab members include postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduates working on projects related to antimicrobial resistance, synthetic biology, and microbial genomics. The lab adheres to AJEDI principles (Antiracism, Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) and emphasizes mentorship fostering authenticity, trust, and growth.
