Dr. Marc D. Bahlmann is an Assistant Professor (tenured) at the Management and Organization department of the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on irrational decision-making in innovation contexts, particularly venture capital investments influenced by physical attractiveness and ethnicity, as well as decision-making by CEOs and Top Management Teams. He teaches courses at both Bachelor's and Master's levels, including 'Doing Business in Emerging Markets' and 'Growth Strategies and Organizational Challenges'. He supervises the Amsterdam Research Project (ARP), offering Master's students opportunities to conduct market research in emerging markets for Western companies.
His research has been published in high-impact journals like the Journal of Economic Geography and Industry & Innovation. Key contributions include studies on venture capital heuristics, geographic diversity in innovation, and the role of physical attractiveness in financial risk-taking.
