Dr. Marc Coppolino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Guelph. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Waterloo (1990) and a Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto (1998). His postdoctoral training included an MRC Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, where he studied host-pathogen interactions involving Salmonella typhimurium.
His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms linking cell adhesion, migration, and invasion, particularly in cancer metastasis. Key areas include SNARE protein complexes, MT1-MMP trafficking, and invadopodia formation. His work is supported by NSERC funding.
Dr. Coppolino has been recognized with the 2000 John Charles Polanyi Award for Physiology and Medicine. His lab is located in SSC 2203B, and his office is SSC 2245. Current advisees include Evan Perehiniak (Ph.D.).
