Marc Andreu Morell Tipper is a social anthropologist and part-time lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands (Universitat de les Illes Balearis), where he teaches Anthropology of Contemporary Societies in the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Work, Department of Social Anthropology. He holds a PhD from the Universitat de Barcelona and has conducted extensive ethnographic research on urban transformations in Majorca, Malta, Riga, and Vilnius.
His educational background includes a PhD in Social Anthropology (2016) from Universitat de Barcelona, a University Master's in Human Evolution and Cognition (2009) from Universitat de les Illes Balears, and multiple degrees in anthropology, history, and tourism policy. He has taught 55 courses across various academic levels, with particular emphasis on Urban Anthropology (10 courses), Anthropology of Tourism (7 courses), and Social Anthropology (5 courses).
Morell's research centers on the class character of space production and its implications for social change. His work examines tourism policy, heritage construction, and gentrification in Majorca; brick hegemony and rent society in Malta; and national economic visions in Baltic republics. His scholarship bridges critical geography, political economy, and urban anthropology, with increasing focus on transnational phenomena like housing financialization and short-term rental markets.

Morell actively participates in multiple research groups including the Critical Geographies of Urbanisation, Sustainability and Touristification Research Group at UIB, the Social Exclusion and Control Research Group at Universitat de Barcelona, and the Power, Flows and Culture collective at Rīgas Strādiņa Universitāte. His current projects include '(R)e-ties: Managing Mobility and Human relations in Digitally Saturated Social Worlds' and 'Frontlines of Value: Class and Social Transformation in 21st Century Capitalism.'
