معرفی
Mara Brady is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at California State University, Fresno. Her research focuses on sedimentological and paleontological studies to understand controls on geologic and fossil record preservation. She holds a B.A. in Geology from Macalester College (2005) and a Ph.D. in Geophysical Sciences from The University of Chicago (2012).
Professional Biography: Dr. Brady integrates field data with quantitative methods to analyze stratigraphic records across geologic time. Her work extends to STEM education initiatives, including improving retention rates through freshman learning communities and advancing climate literacy in PK-12 education. She currently leads the CSU Student Success Network’s Equity in Action Grant addressing systemic racism in geosciences, and collaborates on NSF-funded projects like GEOPAths to enhance geoscience workforce development.
Research Interests: Her primary areas include sedimentology/stratigraphy, taphonomy, quantitative stratigraphic methods, and paleobiology. She also focuses on teacher preparation and interdisciplinary sustainability projects. Over 15 years of fieldwork in North American and international settings inform her data-driven approach to Earth systems analysis.
Grants & Awards: Principal Investigator on a $20K Equity in Action Grant (2023-2025), co-PI on a $315K NSF GEOPAths grant (2020-2023), and recipient of the David B. Jones Foundation grant ($70K, 2018-2020). Her work bridges disciplinary boundaries between geology, education, and sustainability science.
