Dr. Manuel Seeger serves as an Academic Senior Councilor (Akademischer Oberrat) in the Department of Physical Geography at the University of Trier, Germany, a position he has held since May 2016. His academic career spans over two decades with continuous contributions to teaching and research in physical geography.
His educational background includes:
- Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in Geography, Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, 2001
- Diploma in Geoecology, University of Karlsruhe (TH), 1989-1996
Dr. Seeger's research focuses on runoff generation and soil erosion processes across diverse landscapes, from Mediterranean steppe regions to temperate forests and steep-slope vineyards. He develops innovative methods for observing and quantifying these environmental processes through extensive fieldwork, contributing significantly to sustainable land management practices.
His recent publications demonstrate interdisciplinary research trends at the intersection of agriculture and environmental science, particularly exploring sustainable viticulture techniques using intercropping with aromatic herbs and addressing regional environmental challenges affecting communities.
Dr. Seeger actively supervises numerous Bachelor and Master theses in collaboration with colleagues from physical geography, soil science, geology, and geography didactics. His research has been supported by projects including:
