Manuel Manrique Rodríguez

Dr. Manuel Manrique Rodríguez serves as Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Navarra Clinic since 2015 and Associate Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra. He also directs the Cochlear Implant Program at the University of Navarra since 1989 and chairs the Otology Department of the International Federation of ENT Societies (IFOS) as of 2024.

Dr. Manrique Rodríguez graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra in 1980 and earned his PhD there in 1989. He completed specialized training in Otology and Otoneurology at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. His research focuses on advanced hearing restoration technologies including cochlear implants, cochleo-vestibular implants, bone conduction systems, and brainstem implants, along with minimally invasive surgical techniques and genetic approaches to hearing loss.

As an editorial leader, he serves on the boards of "Cochlear Implants International", "Acta Otorrinolaringológica Española", "IAO", "Otology & Neurotology" and "International Archives of Otorhinolaryngology". His research leadership includes 40 principal investigator roles across public and industry-funded projects, plus 20 additional research member positions.

His significant contributions have been recognized with:

• Doctor Honoris Causa from University of San Pablo de Tucumán (2014)
• SEORL Silver Medal (2012)
• Bronze Medal of Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology (2014)
• Politzer Society Gold Medal (2018)

With over 266 scientific presentations and 150+ journal articles, plus 11 monographs and 8 books including the "Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation Manual" and "Guide to Temporal Bone Dissection", Dr. Manrique maintains active membership in CORLAS, SEORL, and the Spanish-German Society of Otorhinolaryngology.
