Manuel Bogalheiro

Manuel Bogalheiro is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Communication, Arts, Architecture, and Technology (ECATI) of Universidade Lusófona and a Visiting Assistant Professor at FCSH - Universidade Nova de Lisboa. His academic work bridges media theory, philosophy of technology, and aesthetics, with a focus on post-humanism, new materialisms, and the ecological turn.

His research explores media materiality, technological obsolescence, and critical ecological perspectives. Articles like The Non-Human Turn (2022) and Obsolescência Programada (2013) reflect his long-term engagement with media philosophy and ecological critique.

Bogalheiro co-organized the Lusófona University Annual Conference Cycle (2018-2024) and curated the 2024 Mythologies (Post-)Human conference. He serves as sub-director of the PhD in Media Art and Communication at Universidade Lusófona and directed the Master in Communication, Networks, and Technologies (Porto, 2021-2023). As an integrated researcher at CICANT, he bridges media studies, design research, and critical theory.
