Manos Kamarianakis is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Crete (Computer Science Department) and the Technical University of Crete (School of Electrical & Computer Engineering). He is also a Research Director at ORamaVR, a FORTH spinoff, and a visiting collaborator at FORTH’s Human-Computer Interaction Lab. His research focuses on Computational Geometry, Geometric Algebra, and their applications in Computer Graphics and Machine Learning, particularly leveraging geometric algebra for networked VR environments. He holds multiple degrees from the University of Crete, including a PhD in Computational Geometry (2019). His work has been recognized with awards such as the Best Paper Award at CGI 2024 and the SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 Best Education Paper Award.
Teaching includes Computer Graphics and Mathematics courses at both universities. His service roles include leadership in projects like the 5G-EPICENTRE and CHARITY initiatives, and he actively reviews for academic venues. Beyond academia, he is an enthusiast of mathematics, puzzles, and bridge card games.
Notable contributions include the GA-Unity framework, which integrates geometric algebra into Unity, and the VR Isle Academy for surgical training. His research bridges theoretical foundations with practical applications in healthcare, education, and critical communications.
