Manon Hoekstra

Dr. Manon Hoekstra is a Senior Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR), an academic research institute under the Dutch Research Council (NWO), where she conducts scientific research on crime and law enforcement. She also serves as a Senior Researcher at FIOD (Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service), integrating academic insights with operational practices in combating financial and tax crime.

Her research focuses on the psychological and behavioral aspects of financial crime, particularly in understanding the characteristics of suspects and witnesses, the effectiveness of investigative interviewing techniques, and strategies to discourage, detect, and prevent fraud. This interdisciplinary work bridges social psychology with criminology and law enforcement practice.
