Manjula Nair is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University. Her research focuses on environmental and materials science, with a strong emphasis on water treatment and pollution control using advanced nanomaterials. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water and sustainable development. Key research areas include MXene composites for pollutant sensing, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for water purification, and sustainable adsorption technologies for heavy metal and dye removal. Recent work also explores the environmental impacts of chemical industries and strategies for net-zero emissions.
Her research outputs span 12 publications since 2013, with notable contributions in Chemosphere, Materials Chemistry and Physics, and Environmental Nanotechnology. She has been involved in interdisciplinary collaborations and secured grants, including the 2025 grant for accelerating net-zero transitions.
