Manisha Caleb is a Senior Lecturer in Astrophysics at the University of Sydney and Discovery Early Career Researcher Award Fellow specializing in radio transients, particularly fast radio bursts. She collaborates with major telescope facilities including MeerKAT and ASKAP to study long-period radio transients.
Education background:
- PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics focusing on Fast Radio Bursts from Australian National University
- Masters in Spacecraft Technology and Satellite Communications from University College London
Her research investigates anomalous cosmic radio emissions, neutron star behavior, and the development of observational techniques for detecting transient phenomena. Current projects examine extreme rotational periods in stellar objects and their implications for astrophysical models.
Recent publications analyze slow-rotating cosmic objects challenging existing stellar classification frameworks. Her team's discovery of a 6.5-hour rotation period pulsar with bi-polar emissions has prompted reevaluation of neutron star evolution theories.
Honors include:
- Discovery Early Career Researcher Award from Australian Research Council
