Manish Patankar is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. His research program focuses on developing diagnostic methods for epithelial ovarian cancer and investigating tumor-immune interactions using glycoproteomic analysis, cellular immunology, and molecular biology approaches.
His education includes a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Bombay, M.S. from Old Dominion University, and Ph.D. from Old Dominion University & Eastern Virginia Medical School, followed by postdoctoral training.
Research interests center on:
- Early detection mechanisms for ovarian cancer
- Glycoprotein biomarkers in tumor microenvironments
- Metabolic pathways in cancer progression
- Immunomodulatory effects of tumor-derived factors
His recent publications demonstrate a focus on metabolic targeting strategies for gynecologic cancers, particularly exploring oxidative phosphorylation inhibitors as therapeutic options. The research spans basic science investigations through translational applications.
Dr. Patankar actively mentors graduate students through the Endocrinology & Reproductive Physiology Program and serves on multiple academic committees including the Admissions Committee and Symposium Committee.
