Dr. Manish Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biology, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM). His research focuses on epigenetic regulation in eukaryotic cells, particularly how environmental cues influence gene expression through chromatin modifications and post-translational signaling in pathogens. He employs mass spectrometry, proteomics, transcriptomics, and systems biology approaches to uncover mechanisms relevant to infectious diseases like malaria and human disorders.

His lab investigates the interplay between metabolic intermediates and epigenetic regulation, with key findings on lysine lactylation in Plasmodium falciparum as a response to host lactate levels. He actively seeks interdisciplinary collaborations in proteomics, PTMs, and host-pathogen interactions.
