Manabu Chiba is a Professor at the Department of Architecture, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, where he leads the Chiba Laboratory. His research focuses on developing new design theories through the relationship between urban spaces and natural environments. He previously served as Vice President of the University (2016-2018) and Deputy Director of Campus Planning.
Research Focus:
Chiba's work examines urban voids, density, landscape systems, and alternative urban mobility. Key concepts include:

- Tokyo Surfing: Reimagining Tokyo Bay's logistics-human coexistence

Academic Activities:
Regularly participates in international symposia including Tokyo University Homecoming Day 2023 and National Yoyogi Stadium World Heritage Registration Symposium. Recent projects include the KAJIMA HALL renovation at the University's Engineering Building.
