Malte Rieth is a Professor of Monetary Macroeconomics at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg and a Research Associate at the Macroeconomics Department of DIW Berlin. He holds a PhD from Technische Universität Dortmund and previously worked as a financial sector strategist. His research focuses on Business Cycles, Macroeconomic Policy, Financial Markets, and Monetary Policy. He has published in top journals such as the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics and the Journal of the European Economic Association.
His work explores topics like the effects of unconventional monetary policy, fiscal policy multipliers, and the impact of FX interventions. He has contributed to projects analyzing the distributional effects of macroeconomic policies in Europe and the role of capital markets in economic stability. Recent publications address the economic implications of the pandemic, trade policy shocks, and inflation targeting mechanisms.
Rieth has presented research at conferences including the Vereins für Socialpolitik Annual Meetings and the International Conference on Computing in Economics and Finance. His current projects include studies on regional housing market impacts of monetary policies and the efficacy of fiscal interventions.
