Malte Heiser is a researcher and teaching assistant at the Human-Centered Computing (HCC) Research Group within the Department of Computer Science at Freie Universität Berlin. His work bridges technology and medicine, focusing on human-AI collaboration, privacy-preserving systems, and user interface design for healthcare applications. He contributes to projects like Digi-POD (digital clinical decision support), DocTalk (conversational agents), and WerteRadar (patient data sovereignty).
His research explores the intersection of digital health, responsible AI, and critical reflective practices. He mentors theses on topics such as LLM-based conversational interfaces for patient triage, privacy visualizations for health data, and tools to enhance human-AI collaboration in decision-making tasks. Malte holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from RWTH Aachen University, with a specialization in medical applications.
The HCC group emphasizes value-sensitive design, interactive systems for healthcare, and data donation frameworks. Malte’s role includes advancing methodologies for user-centric AI and conducting interdisciplinary collaborations in virtual reality, robotic surgery, and data ethics education.
