Malin Brännback is a Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics, and Law at Åbo Akademi University. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and management, with a particular emphasis on gender dynamics, cross-cultural studies, and the societal impact of entrepreneurial activities. She has contributed to over 100 publications, including the Handbook of Research Methods and Applications in Entrepreneurship and Small Business (2025), and co-edited key texts in the field. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, exploring themes like social justice and economic resilience through cooperatives in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Brännback has received the Highly Commended Paper in the 2020 Emerald Literati Awards for her research on entrepreneurial pitching dynamics. Her studies on gender stereotypes in Gen Z entrepreneurship and refugee entrepreneurship highlight her commitment to addressing systemic inequities. She also investigates digital literacy’s impact on entrepreneurial decision-making and the role of family businesses in succession planning.
As Dean, she oversees academic strategies that integrate sustainable development into university initiatives. Her research frequently bridges theory and practice, emphasizing methodological rigor and real-world applicability.
