Malcolm Martineau is an International Fellow in Collaborative Piano and Research Fellow at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He was appointed International Fellow of Accompaniment in 2009 and served as Artistic Director of the 2011 Leeds Lieder+ Festival. Born in Edinburgh, he studied Music at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, and the Royal College of Music. Recognized as a leading accompanist, he has collaborated with renowned singers such as Bryn Terfel, Simon Keenlyside, and Angela Gheorghiu. His performances span prestigious venues worldwide, including the Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Sydney Opera House. He has presented series at the Wigmore Hall and Edinburgh Festival, focusing on works by composers like Britten and Poulenc.
Malcolm has received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (2004). His recording projects include collaborations with artists like Bryn Terfel (Deutsche Grammophon), Simon Keenlyside (EMI), and Magdalena Kozena (DG). Recent engagements include performances with Dorothea Röschmann, Susan Graham, and others. His work emphasizes the interpretation of German Lieder, English song, and chamber music, showcasing his expertise in collaborative performance.
