Malachi H. Hacohen is Bass Fellow and Professor of History, Religion, and German Studies at Duke University. His scholarship focuses on Jewish European intellectual history, particularly Central European Jewish intelligentsia from the Enlightenment to post-Holocaust periods.
His monograph 'Jacob & Esau' reinterprets Jewish European history through biblical typology. Current work examines Austrian imperial identity and the Popper-Agassi debates on nationalism. As Director of the Religions and Public Life Initiative, he advances interdisciplinary dialogue on religion in contemporary society.
